A prospect getting a lot of attention in the Chicagoland area is Oak Forest defensive end Mike Johns. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, plays with a high motor, he looks the part when seeing him in person and the service academies feel he’d be a good fit for their programs.
“Army and Air Force have offered me a scholarship,” Mike Johns said.
“Purdue is my top school right now. If Stanford or Purdue offered me a scholarship before the start of the season, I’d have to think about making a commitment.
“Michigan State, Iowa, Army, Air Force and Northern Illinois are also my favorites. It’s still early in the process and I’m getting mail from a lot of schools. I don’t want to narrow anything down yet.”
Johns will be a three-year varsity starter in 2007. Mike was brought up to the varsity as a freshman. This past season, Johns had 66 solo tackles and 12 sacks.
Johns plans on attending the Scout.com combine this Saturday at the College of Du Page in suburban Chicago. He carries a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and scored a 23 on his ACT.
