Jason Kafka, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound, quarterback, from Chicago (St. Rita) says he is now concentrating on his senior season. Kafka is a three-year varsity letter winner for the Mustangs and was a wide receiver on the 2006 state championship team.
“I don’t have any scholarship offers yet.” Kafka said. “I played wide receiver last year and I’m playing quarterback this year so there’s not a whole lot of tape to go around. I’m sure there will be a lot of schools looking at senior film.”
Kafka’s older brother,
Mike Kafka
, is a quarterback at
Northwestern
University. You’d think this would be an advantage but according to Jason there’s not a lot of football talk when the family is all together.
“Mike doesn’t want to talk about football when he comes home from school.” Kafka said. “I think that there’s a lot more that you have to deal with at the next level and a lot more competition so when he comes home he just wants to relax and get away from everything that has to do with football.
“My brother has helped me with the recruiting process and it’s definitely an advantage that my family has already gone through this. I’m just going to do my best and let the chips fall where they may.
The schools that I’m liking the most right now are
Purdue
, Northwestern,
Colorado
,
Kansas State
,
Northern Illinois
and
Ball State
.
Kafka is a very good athlete that could play quarterback, wide receiver or defensive back at the next level. He carries a 2.4 core GPA and scored a 21 on his ACT.
