Eddie Viliunas, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound, quarterback from La Grange (Ill.) Lyons is hoping to open some eyes in 2007. Viliunas has been working religiously with quarterback guru coach Jeff Christensen and his “Throw It Deep” staff, now it’s his time to shine.
“It’s pretty unheard of at my school to be a starter as a junior.”
Eddie Viliunas
told Scout.com
“I sat behind a senior the first game of my junior year but came in during the second game and led our team to a come from behind win and I never looked back. I finished the season with 1,000 yards passing and I rushed for 750 yards.”
How has the recruiting gone for Viliunas so far?
“I’ve been hearing from a lot of schools both Big Ten and MAC. A lot of other schools around the country have either called or written and asked for film. I don’t have any offers yet and I’m very aware that my senior year is going to huge for me.”
Does Viliunas have a list of favorites at this time?
“I like
Michigan State
,
Illinois
,
Indiana
,
Iowa
,
Purdue
,
Central Michigan
and
Northwestern
but I’m completely wide open, I’m willing to talk to any school that has an interest in me.”
We’ve scouted Viliunas this summer at passing camps and he does possess a live arm and he has the size and tools be a quarterback at the next level.
Viliunas camped at Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State and Northwestern this summer. Eddie is an outstanding student carrying a 3.8 GPA as well as scoring a 24 on his ACT test.
“I’m going out this year with a chip on my shoulder and with something to prove.” Viliunas said. “We’re going to throw the football 25-30 times a game and I’m looking forward to leading and getting my team back to the play-offs.”
