Falcons draft Purdue's Allen

Purdue cornerback Ricardo Allen was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL Draft.

Ricardo Allen continued on a Purdue tradition.

The standout cornerback was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round (147th overall), making 17 consecutive years a Boilermaker has been drafted.

Allen, a four-year starter at Purdue, was one of the Boilermakers' key impact players on defense. He tallied 13 career interceptions and a school record four defensive touchdowns. He was honored as All-Big Ten in each of his four seasons.

After being drafted, Allen took to Twitter. "Appreciate everyone showing me love. It's time to work though."

Allen's cornerback spot at Purdue remains open, with Leroy Clark appearing to be the favorite for the job.
