All signs pointed Gelen Robinson to Purdue. He's the son of Boilermaker basketball great Glenn Robinson and a standout from just up the road.
Yet, Robinson just needed a little convincing before he became a Boilermaker commit on Monday. Purdue's Marcus Freeman and Jafar Williams helped seal the deal with a steady recruitment. In the end, the Boilermaker legacy came home.
The son of "Big Dog" is Purdue's biggest addition for its 2014 recruiting class. The Lake Central (Ind.) High School standout had a long list of offers which included Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and Vanderbilt, among others.
Robinson is Purdue's seventh pledge for its 2014 class and first on the defensive side of the ball. If momentum carries on, this news will be topped by four-star linebacker Drue Tranquill, who has the Boilermakers as his current leader.
Purdue's recruiting class still ranks 11th in the Big Ten, just in front of Indiana, but it has crept up to 54th overall. It appears the Boilermakers are moving up in Darrell Hazell's first class.
