Short picked by the Panthers

Former Purdue defensive tackle Kawann Short was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the NFL Draft.

The Carolina Panthers picked former Purdue standout Kawann Short with their second-round (44th overall) selection in the NFL Draft.

The selection of Short marks the 16th consecutive year in which a Purdue players was picked in the NFL Draft.

Short was named AP second-team All-American in his senior season and was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection. He racked up 19.5 career sacks and 186 tackles, 49 for a loss.

Short is the ninth Purdue defensive lineman drafted in the past 10 years, and the 25th Boilermakers selected in the second round.
