Lawson leaving Purdue

Sophomore forward Jacob Lawson has been granted release from his Purdue scholarship.

Purdue has lost its second player in as many days.

Sophomore forward Jacob Lawson has been granted release from his Purdue scholarship and will transfer, the school announced on Friday.

"We enjoyed having Jacob as a member of our program for two years," Purdue head coach Matt Painter said in a statement. "He's a quality young man and we wish him the best moving forward."

Lawson, a native of Reidsville, N.C., averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds during his 58 games at Purdue.

On Thursday, the departure of fifth-year senior forward Sandi Marcius was officially announced. Marcius is eligible to play immediately at his next school.
